About Me

Aloha, I’m Kailani Jones, DCN, founder of Aloha Functional Nutrition. I am part Native Hawaiian and was born and raised on Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi—an upbringing that shaped my respect for the body, the land, and whole-person health.

Education & Approach

I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition and Master’s in Human Nutrition & Functional Medicine from the University of Western States, and my Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. My work is rooted in evidence-based functional medicine, focused on identifying root causes and creating personalized, sustainable nutrition and lifestyle plans.

Why Functional Nutrition

My path into nutrition was inspired by my mother’s experience with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and witnessing her health improve through targeted dietary changes. While completing pre-med coursework, I initially planned to pursue medical school, but after shadowing physicians, I recognized the limitations of symptom-based, drug-focus, one-size-fits-all care. I chose functional nutrition to focus on personalized, root-cause healing using nutrition, lifestyle medicine, and targeted natural therapies.

Who I Work With

Through Aloha Functional Nutrition, I work with individuals navigating chronic and complex health concerns—including gut disorders, cardiometabolic health, autoimmune disease, inflammatory issues, and hormone imbalance—as well as those seeking to optimize athletic performance, recovery, and long-term vitality.

Life & Values

I live an active lifestyle and apply the same principles I teach to my own health. I was a competitive surfer alongside my sister Moana Jones Wong (Queen of Pipeline), hold a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and have competed in endurance and ocean races across Hawaiʻi. I am also a Bible-believing Christian, guided by God’s laws of health—nutrition, movement, hydration, sunshine, temperance, fresh air, rest, and trust in God.
