Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is functional nutrition?
Functional nutrition focuses on identifying root causes rather than just managing symptoms. Instead of generic advice, care is personalized and considers nutrition, digestion, hormones, blood sugar, stress, lifestyle, and environmental factors. The goal is long-term, sustainable health improvements.
What types of conditions do you work with?
Clients commonly seek support for:
Digestive issues (IBS, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, reflux)
Hormone imbalances (PMS, irregular cycles, perimenopause, menopause)
Fatigue, brain fog, and burnout
Blood sugar, cholesterol, and cardiometabolic health
Autoimmune and inflammatory conditions
Mood, anxiety, and stress-related symptoms
Nutrient deficiencies and malabsorption
Preventive and longevity-focused care
Plant-Based/Vegan/Vegetarian diet support
You do not need a diagnosis to work with me.
Do you work with my doctor or other providers?
Yes. With your permission, I can collaborate with your physician or other providers to ensure nutrition strategies align with your medical care.
Do you offer lab testing?
Yes, when appropriate. I offer access to advanced functional lab testing (such as stool testing, hormone testing, nutrient and metabolic assessments). Check out the Functional Medicine lab tests I offer via my Rupa Health Lab Shop: https://labs.rupahealth.com/store/storefront_7gaJak4.:
I also analyze conventional lab work, including:
Complete Blood Count (CBC)
Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP)
Lipid panels, thyroid labs, inflammatory markers, and more
You’re welcome to share recent lab work from your provider, and we’ll use it to guide your care.
Do you take insurance?
At this time, I do not accept insurance. You may be able to use HSA or FSA funds, depending on your plan.
How much do appointments cost?
Initial Consultation (IC): $150
Follow-Up Sessions: $85
Packages vary and are available for clients seeking ongoing support
All pricing is transparent and visible during scheduling.
What happens during the initial consultation?
After booking, you’ll receive:
A detailed intake form
A Medical Symptoms Questionnaire (MSQ)
A request for any recent lab work or relevant medical records
During the session, we will:
Review your health history, symptoms, and goals
Discuss diet, lifestyle, stress, and labs
Identify potential root causes
Create a personalized nutrition and lifestyle plan
Schedule follow-up appointments
You’ll leave with clear next steps and a plan tailored to you.
How many sessions will I need?
For most clients, around 5 sessions allows enough time to make meaningful progress and support long-term results.
The exact number depends on the complexity of your health concerns, your goals, and how your body responds. We’ll reassess together as we go.
Do you provide meal plans?
I provide personalized food guidance, meal ideas, and strategies rather than rigid meal plans. The focus is on sustainability, flexibility, and confidence with food.
Do you recommend supplements?
Yes, when appropriate. Supplement recommendations are personalized and evidence-based.
All professional-grade supplements are offered through my secure FullScript portal, making it easy to access high-quality products if you choose. There is never an obligation to purchase.
Is this service virtual or in-person?
Most appointments are offered virtually, allowing flexibility and accessibility regardless of location.
Is functional nutrition safe if I’m on medications?
Yes. Nutrition care is designed to support — not replace — medical treatment. I carefully consider medication–nutrient interactions and encourage coordination with your healthcare provider when needed.
